Please write a blog post reflecting on your philosophy of using technology in
the classroom. What technologies do you see yourself using? Why limitations
come along with using technology in the classroom? How can you effectively use
technology in your classroom? How will you continue your professional
development as a teaching, in regard to using technology. Submit the link to
your blog post below.
While I believe it is very important to come in with a game plan for my incorporation of technology within the classroom, it is also very difficult to apply the same philosophies to every class. With different students and different dynamics between the students, some classes may learn better with technology than other classes. That being said, I would really like to ask my students what their preferences might be, regarding technology, at the beginning of the semester. After finding out how they prefer to learn, I would vary my use of technology accordingly.
Given that the students learn well using technology, I would love to incorporate the flipped classroom model for lessons that are appropriate for that model. I would also like to utilize SmartBoard technology, Prezi, and Socrative for quick assessments. One nice thing about these technologies in particular is that I have had very few difficulties with them. They have all been very reliable in my experience so far. That being said, malfunctions can always arise given that we are entirely dependent on a machine and its capability to function.
I hope to effectively utilize technology in my classroom by using it as a supplement as opposed to the primary element. I believe that all three of the technologies that I mentioned can be very useful as supplemental tools. I hope to also broaden my horizons in the world of technology and continue to discover and explore new technologies. Staying current with these can certainly be tough since technology is such an ever-changing field, but I will definitely try to keep up with blogs/news that talk about those technological advancements.

The Gentle Giant of the Sea
One of the coolest and most docile animals I've never met...the manatee. I am really not sure what it is that I like about the manatee so much, but I feel fairly safe assuming that I would love hanging out with this friendly animal.

In all seriousness, who wouldn't want to go for a swim with these two? Plus, bonus, manatees actually encounter grave circumstances when they venture into waters that are too cold, so wherever you would swim with them would be sure to be some warmer water! Manatees are mammals that are primarily herbivores and dine on various types of plant species. Sometimes called the "sea cow", they earn their nickname from both their appearance and their diet. Aside from the "sea cow" manatees are also sometimes called the "gentle giant" because of their demeanor and docile attitude.
Anyway, this isn't really informative or helpful, just a small statement of my love for the gentle giant of the sea!
